Venue & Accommodation info

VENUE

The Analogue Retreat is set onsite within it's own woodland at a fascinating old observatory in the Northwest, UK.

Built in 1866, this rustic Victorian gem, is now home to an ongoing programme of artist residencies and has been booked solely for our use over the course of The Analogue Retreat.

Both the Full Retreat Ticket and the Self-Led Day Ticket gain you access to the observatory site and surrounding woodland, offering plenty of opportunities for photographic practice.

Due to the age and nature of the building itself, the observatory is only partly accessible, however, there is an accessible bedroom and bathroom onsite, so if you would like to take part in the Analogue Retreat and have access needs, please get in touch before booking so we can have a further chat with the venue staff to discuss the possibilities.

ACCOMMODATION

There are lots of local options for accommodation, in Birkenhead, Port Sunlight and Liverpool itself and a list of suggestions for a range of budgets will be provided to all attendees.

For those taking up a Full Retreat Ticket, there is also the option of limited numbers of beds (basic accommodation) for overnight guests to stay on-site if required. These will be allocated on a first-come, first served basis.

These beds are all housed within SHARED rooms (between 2 and 8 people) and will be allocated (to the best ability) based on individual preference as spaces are filled.

reach for the stars

A unique opportunity to spend dedicated time onsite at an original Observatory with working, moveable domes, hand-built staircase, access to rooftops and surrounded by woodland with views for miles all around.

The perfect place to inspire connections between the magic of light and the imperfect beauty of analogue photography
